How does the pricing for Impossible Cloud work?

Our pricing is transparent and predictable, with no hidden fees. You only pay per terabyte of storage used. Customers can choose between a flexible pay-as-you-go plan or reserved capacity plans with long-term discounts.

How do you provide high-performance storage at such an affordable price?

We combine innovative architecture with deep expertise. Our use of erasure coding is more efficient than traditional replication, delivering durability with less overhead. We pass this savings onto you directly.
In addition, our proprietary metadata system ensures low latency and instant data access, even at scale.

What is your policy on data retention and deletion?

You have full control over your data. There is no minimum retention period, so you never pay for deleted data and remain fully independent. Data is automatically removed from our systems once your trial ends or you terminate the service.

Does Impossible Cloud charge for egress?

No. We do not charge for egress, meaning the transfer of your data out of Impossible Cloud. It is free under our fair use policy.
This allows you to access your stored data without additional costs. As a general rule, monthly egress should not exceed the volume of actively stored data.

Does Impossible Cloud charge for API calls?

No. Unlike many other providers, we do not charge for API calls or operational requests. Our pricing is simple and predictable — you only pay for the storage you use.

Is there a minimum monthly cost or commitment?

No. Impossible Cloud has neither a minimum storage duration nor a monthly commitment. You only pay for the storage you actually use, making it a flexible option even for unpredictable workloads.

Are there discounts for long-term commitments?

Yes. With our reserved capacity plans you can commit to 1, 3, or 5 years starting at 25 TB and receive discounted pricing. These plans include assisted migration and personal support.

How can I monitor my usage and costs?

You can track your usage and costs in real time via the Impossible Cloud Console. It provides clear insights into stored data and expenses, helping you manage your budget effectively.

Can I create geo redundant backups?

Yes. Impossible Cloud uses erasure coding to distribute data across servers, so failures do not result in data loss-

What kind of performance can I expect from the service?

Impossible Cloud provides an always-hot storage model with consistently low latency and high throughput. Internal benchmarks show that our solution can be significantly faster than comparable services in the market. How durable is Impossible Cloud Storage?

Impossible Cloud Storage is designed for 99.999999999% durability (known as “11 nines”) over a year, meaning objects are highly unlikely to be lost.
We still recommend following best practices such as using versioning, access controls, and regular backups to protect against accidental or malicious deletion. Bucket-level compliance features can further prevent unwanted data removal.

Is Impossible Cloud fully S3 compatible?

Yes. Our storage is fully compatible with the AWS S3 API, making it easy to integrate existing tools and workflows. This ensures a seamless switch from other providers without the need to adapt applications or processes.

Do you offer Object Lock (WORM) functionality for immutable storage?

Yes. Our object Lock provides WORM (Write Once, Read Many) functionality, ensuring that data cannot be changed or deleted for a defined retention period. This feature is crucial for compliance requirements and effective ransomware protection.

What integrations and backup solutions do you support?

Most Impossible Cloud customers integrate our storage in conjunction with solutions such as Veeam, Acronis, MSP360, Nakivo, and Hornetsecurity, with whom we offer deep or native integrations.

Can I migrate my data from another provider to Impossible Cloud

Yes. Migration is seamless thanks to full S3 compatibility. For reserved capacity plans of 25 TB or more, we also include a migration offer with dedicated support at no extra cost.

How do you guarantee data sovereignty?

Impossible Cloud is a German company operating fully under European law. We run our own technology stack and do not rely on external data sub-processors, ensuring your data is protected from foreign jurisdictions such as the US CLOUD Act.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored in ISO-certified data centers located in Germany and other European regions.
All locations meet strict EU data protection requirements and are designed for maximum security and compliance.

How is my data protected at rest and in transit?

Your data is encrypted during transfer and while stored in our data centers. We apply multi-layer encryption using industry-standard algorithms to ensure confidentiality and integrity at every stage.

What security certifications do you have?

Impossible Cloud Storage is designed to provide 99.999999999% (11 × 9s) durability of objects over a given year. The SLAs we commit to can be found in our Terms and Conditions in section 7.
