Where is Impossible Cloud headquartered?

Our headquarters are located in Hamburg, Germany, and the company operates under European law.

Who owns Impossible Cloud?

Impossible Cloud is privately owned by its co-founders, Dr. Kai Wawrzinek and Dr. Christian Kaul, together with leading European venture capital firms and investors.

When was Impossible Cloud founded?

Impossible Cloud was founded in 2021. Since then, we have grown rapidly, serving several thousand customers and building a strong partner network across Europe.

Why might I not have heard of Impossible Cloud before?

Impossible Cloud was founded in 2021 and is still a young company in the cloud infrastructure market. Since then, we have established ourselves with several thousand customers and a strong partner network. Our initial focus was on the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), but we now operate across major markets and continue to expand.

Why the name Impossible Cloud?

We chose the name because our platform solves challenges that traditional providers left unresolved. What once seemed impossible – full control over your data at a fair price with high performance – is now possible with Impossible Cloud.

How does the pricing for Impossible Cloud work?

Our pricing is transparent and predictable, with no hidden fees. You only pay per terabyte of storage used. Customers can choose between a flexible pay-as-you-go plan or reserved capacity plans with long-term discounts

Bare metal services are billed based on resource usage. Pricing is calculated per GPU card-hour. All applicable pricing is shown before deployment.

How do you provide high-performance storage at such an affordable price?

We combine innovative architecture with deep expertise. Our use of erasure coding is more efficient than traditional replication, delivering durability with less overhead. We pass this savings onto you directly.
In addition, our proprietary metadata system ensures low latency and instant data access, even at scale.

What is your policy on data retention and deletion?

You have full control over your data. There is no minimum retention period, so you never pay for deleted data and remain fully independent. Data is automatically removed from our systems once your trial ends or you terminate the service.

Does Impossible Cloud charge for egress?

No. We do not charge for egress, meaning the transfer of your data out of our object storage. This allows you to access your stored data without additional costs. As a general rule, monthly egress should not exceed the volume of actively stored data.

Does Impossible Cloud charge for API calls?

No. Unlike many other providers, we do not charge for API calls or operational requests. Our pricing is simple and predictable — you only pay for the storage you use.

Is there a minimum monthly cost or commitment?

No. Impossible Cloud has neither a minimum storage duration nor a monthly commitment. You only pay for the storage you actually use, making it a flexible option even for unpredictable workloads.

How can I monitor my usage and costs?

You can monitor your Object Storage usage and costs in real time via the Impossible Cloud Console. It provides clear insights into stored data and expenses.Information about Bare Metal GPU usage and billing is available within the respective documentation.

Can I create geo redundant backups?

Yes. Impossible Cloud uses erasure coding to distribute data across servers, so failures do not result in data loss-
Additional protection methods, such as backups, further enhance data security.

What kind of performance can I expect from the service?

Impossible Cloud provides an always-hot storage model with consistently low latency and high throughput. Internal benchmarks show that our solution can be significantly faster than comparable services in the market. Performance may vary by workload, and you can explore this directly by starting a free trial

How durable is Impossible Cloud Storage?

Impossible Cloud Storage is designed for 99.999999999% durability (known as “11 nines”) over a year, meaning objects are highly unlikely to be lost.
We still recommend following best practices such as using versioning, access controls, and regular backups to protect against accidental or malicious deletion. Bucket-level compliance features can further prevent unwanted data removal.

Is Impossible Cloud fully S3 compatible?

Yes. Our storage is fully compatible with the AWS S3 API, making it easy to integrate existing tools and workflows. This ensures a seamless switch from other providers without the need to adapt applications or processes.

Do you offer Object Lock (WORM) functionality for immutable storage?

Yes. Our object Lock provides WORM (Write Once, Read Many) functionality, ensuring that data cannot be changed or deleted for a defined retention period. This feature is crucial for compliance requirements and effective ransomware protection.

What integrations and backup solutions do you support?

Most Impossible Cloud customers integrate our storage in conjunction with solutions such as Veeam, Acronis, or MSP360 with whom we offer deep or native integrations. Our ecosystem continues to grow with additional technology partners. See our partner section for more details.

Can I migrate my data from another provider to Impossible Cloud

Yes. Migration is seamless thanks to full S3 compatibility. For reserved capacity plans we also include a migration offer with dedicated support at no extra cost.

Are GPU resources dedicated per customer or shared?

Impossible Cloud bare metal GPU servers provide full access to dedicated NVIDIA DGX systems. GPU resources are not shared with other customers, and no virtualization layer is used.

Where is my data stored?
